Birth

In the *Dalston parish records, v1 p186:
"1578 Junij 22 Mabella Robinson filia Rob".

Marriage

In the *Dalston parish records, v1 p110:
"1611 July 23 Barnard Barton et Mabell Robinson".
Assuming this is the same Mabell Robinson as in the birth record above, this would mean she was 33 when she married (surprisingly late).

Burial

In the *Dalston parish records, v1 p186:
"1639 December Mabell the wife of Sr barnard barton buryed the 5th day".
Assuming (not unreasonably) that this is the same Mabell and Barnard as in the marriage record above, this would mean she was 61 when she died.

Children

Also in the *Dalston parish records, v1 p186:
"1639 October Margrat the daughter of barnard barton buryed the 30th day".
Thus her daughter Margrat/Margaret died a little over a month before her mother. This is born out by her will (below) which mentions "all the goods of my daughter margaret Barton Late deceased". The same will also mentions a son John Barton (Mabell's executor) and another daughter Elizabeth (who married a David Couper and had a daughter Marge).

Will and testament

The will of Mabell Barton is available from the *Cumbria archive service. It is tricky to read, but my best efforts follow:

"The will nuncaptive [delivered orally, presumably on her deathbed] of
Mabell Barton Late deceased

Memorada[?] that I Mabell Barton did doe give and bequeath her my
goods the 25th day of november in the yeare of our Lord god
1639 in manner following - first I give to Marge Couper
my grandchild 48?? upon this condition that David
Couper her father doe grant[?] a general acquittance to my
Son John Barton for all the goods of my daughter margaret Barton Late
deceased and likewise if Elizabeth Couper my daughter &
wife of David Couper doe die before ??????? next the
said David Couper shall give to my ??????? ??????? for ye payment of
the aforesaid 48?? to my executor to pay the said 48??
to Marge Couper my grandchild when she comes to ye
age of 14 years; but if David Couper deny to ?????
a general acquittance to my Son John Barton then ??? ??? ?? neither
{??? paid} David nor my grandchild Marge Couper shall have
the said 48??. I give to Marge Couper my grandchild
all my wearing clothes apparel excepting one coat which I
give to Margaret Leigh[?]. ??? I give to Marge
Couper my grandchild one kettle all the rest of my
goods moveable and immoveable I give & bequeath to my Son John Bar-
ton whome I make my Sole executor of this my Last
Will. Witnessed hereof
George Robinson
F????? barton"

What a dubious will!
